Making Changes to Entries
Changing the Order of Entries
You may find yourself in a situation where you need to change the order of ACL entries. You might need to adjust entry precedence, you may have created an entry with the wrong ID number, or you may need to put entries back into canonical order (see
"Assigning an ID Number").
Reordering ACL entries is easy in Sandbox.
- In the ACL inspector, select the entry you want to move.
- Under the Entries menu, you will see the Move Entry to ID submenu. This submenu contains a list of all valid ID numbers that can be assigned to the entry.
- Choose a new ID from the Move Entry to ID submenu. The ACL inspector will refresh to reflect the change.
Changing the Attributes of an Entry
Making changes to an existing entry is just as simple as creating a new one. If you need to alter any of the settings of an entry, you can do so from within the edit panel:
- In the ACL inspector, select the entry you want to make changes to.
- Click the edit button (as indicated by a pencil) below the ACL inspector, or choose Edit Selected Entry under the Entries menu.
- When the edit panel opens, you'll see that it's been configured to match the entry you're editing. Make any changes necessary.
- Click Save Entry to apply your changes to the entry. The ACL inspector will refresh to reflect the new state of the entry.
- You cannot change the ID number of an entry from the edit panel. Use the Move Entry to ID command instead.
Removing an Entry
Though removing an entry is likely intuitive at this point, we will cover it here. To remove specific ACL entry from the list of entries:
- In the ACL inspector, select the entry you want to remove.
- Click the remove button (as indicated by a -) below the ACL inspector.
- You will be prompted to confirm the removal of the entry. If you're sure you want to remove the entry, click Remove. The ACL inspector will refresh to reflect the change.
- As the remove entry prompt explains, this operation cannot be undone. Be sure you want to remove an entry before confirming this action!
